Own the Podium thanks its government partners for their contributions and commitment to helping Canadian athletes achieve their goals at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The current support from the federal government enables Own the Podium to support winter and summer targeted sports and athletes.
The Government of Canda is Own the Podium’s largest endorser, contributing $62 million in enhanced excellence funding each year through Sport Canada. $22 million of this enhanced funding is committed to winter sports, $34 million for the summer sports and $6 million is targeted to team sports.
An initiative as far-reaching as Own the Podium would be impossible without the commitment of partners who share the vision.
Since 2013, the province of Ontario and OTP have collaborated to support projects that align provincial and national Olympic and Paralympic programs in the areas of Sport Science and Sport Medicine, coaching, and training and competition. OTP appreciates the ongoing support of Ontario in developing the next generation of Olympians and Paralympians.
In February 2016, a new sport memorandum of understanding was introduced by the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC), Own the Podium (OTP), the Province of British Columbia (B.C.) and viaSport BC, whereby the five partners commit to collaboration on a set of pertinent principles.
