This program is run in partnership with the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute (COPSI) Network. The CEP considers the Canadian Sport Centres and Canadian Sport Institutes as valued Performance Partners. These Performance Partners work very closely with the targeted sports through the provision of services and programs for athletes and coaches.

Performance Workshops are a development initiative in the Coaching Enhancement Program (CEP) for coaches of athletes who are 0-8 years away from podium success. Two workshops are offered three times each per year, with coaches from Canada’s leading sports coming together to connect with a network required to compete with the best programs in the world.

Workshop Content

Module content is based on foundational coaching and leadership principles as well as feedback from the CEP leadership assessment of senior and Next Generation coaches across summer and winter sports. It is focused on developing competencies that are at the core of Canada's World Class Coaching Excellence.

Workshop Structure

Annually, two workshops are developed and delivered across the COPSI Network. The workshops will be offered three times at varying locations so that coaches have the opportunity to fit workshops into their annual calendar.

Journey and Commitment

  • Program Structure - Each workshop is limited to 15 coaches. Coaches will participate in one in-person, two-day workshop followed by four virtual follow-up engagements, hosted in an online platform three, six, nine and twelve-months after the completion of the workshop.

  • In-Person Workshop Outline - Coaches must arrive by 9am on the start of Day 1 and depart by 3pm at the end of day 2. Accommodations are provided and mandatory for one night (including for local coaches), to ensure all coaches can take part in the evening content including a group dinner and activity.

Eligible Coaches

Coaches who are working with targeted athletes who are 0-8 years away from podium success, in Olympic and Paralympic sports and sport disciplines. This includes NextGen and development pathway coaches.
