An initiative as far-reaching as Own the Podium would be impossible without the commitment of partners who share the vision. Partners include the Government of Canada, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), the Canadian Olympic Foundation (COF), the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC), the provincial and territorial governments, corporate partners and the Canadian sport community, all of whom are helping transform the dream into reality. Their support will create a lasting legacy that will unite and strengthen the Canadian sport system.
Own the Podium is proud to be supported by the Government of Canada, the largest investor in Canada’s high-performance sport system. Through Sport Canada, the government provides $66 million each year in enhanced excellence funding. This support goes to targeted Olympic and Paralympic sports, team sports, and next generation athletes and coaches.
Thanks to this investment, more Canadian athletes can pursue their dreams of wearing the maple leaf at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) has been a key partner in high-performance sport since Own the Podium’s creation in 2005. Their early support helped lead Canada to its best-ever Olympic performance at the 2010 Winter Games.
Since then, our partnership has continued to grow. The COC now invests over $15 million annually to strengthen medal-winning programs and support athletes with podium potential. Our collaboration will continue through 2028, reflecting a shared commitment to Olympic excellence.
The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) is an important partner in advancing high-performance Paralympic sport. With an annual investment of approximately $1.5 million, CPC funding helps deliver critical initiatives—such as coaching development, hiring technical staff, supporting next generation athletes and coaches, and driving research and innovation projects.
National Sport Organizations (NSOs) are essential partners in Canada’s high-performance sport system. Own the Podium works closely with NSOs to support the development and delivery of performance-focused strategies that help athletes, coaches, and support teams succeed on the world stage.
Each NSO leads the high-performance pathway for its sport, including athlete identification, coaching, daily training environments, and competition planning. We collaborate with NSOs to provide technical guidance, align support services, and help strengthen performance systems from grassroots to podium.
Together, we’re building a stronger, more unified approach to Olympic and Paralympic success in Canada. To learn more about each sport, visit their individual websites.
The Canadian Sport Institutes and Centres are key Performance Partners in Canada’s high-performance sport system. Working closely with targeted sports, they provide expert services and support programs that help athletes and coaches perform at their best.
There are seven Institutes and Centres across the country, forming the COPSI Network. Each one plays a vital role in delivering sport science, sport medicine, and daily training environment support to high-performance teams.
