Own the Podium (OTP) is the organization responsible for assessing the performance potential of Canadian high performance sport (both individual and team), for providing the technical analysis required to determine Canadian podium targets for Olympic and Paralympic Games and for making investment recommendations for the allocation of excellence dollars provided by the national funding parties. Accordingly, OTP is in the business of recommending the list of sports, events, teams and athletes to be targeted and the investment strategies to permit them to contribute to the medal targets endorsed by the OTP Board.

The main priorities for OTP enhanced excellence funding are coaching/technical leadership, training and competitions, sports science and sport medical support and organizational capacity to manage an effective high performance program.
